American Airlines cancels RDU flights

With Hurricane Irene on the way to North Carolina, American Airlines and American Eagle have canceled all their Saturday flights into and out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport, RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said Friday afternoon.

Hamlin said that JetBlue Airways initially had announced some Saturday flight cancellations, but has reinstated those flights -- at least temporarily.

Most airlines also have announced what are called ticket-change waivers, as they typically do when storms approach. The waivers allow travelers to reschedule their flights preemptively without paying the usual fees.
