TechDex SMART Mobile Design
Mobile Design, for some time now, has been an almost-elitist's game. Even though web-enabled mobile devices has been around for a few years, the design and implementation of a mobile website has remained a somewhat "techy" venture.
Each phone, and generations of phones, have their own screen dimensions, so how your mobile site look when it's viewed on different devices is one of the biggest concerns. Then there is speed, functionality, the type of data you can deliver, and more.
In my own research, there is one aspect of mobile design that very few people are talking about, and those that do, barley touch on the subject. It is Dynamic Content Delivery. There is a lot more to a mobile website than just being able to display content directly or the speed at which it is delivered.
If you truly wish to take advantage of the mobile market, you have to be able to deliver content dynamically, meaning that you shouldn't just deliver content to all devices, but target content to specific devices as well, including audio and video.
You also need a website that will "know" what content to serve, and in what format to different destinations.
I've begun work on a new type of Mobile Design called SMART, which means, "Simple Mobile Adaptive Reasonng Technology."
It sounds fancy, but in a nutshell, I've created a new type of server software that allows your website to automatically detect both mobile devices and their browsers, then adapt the display of contents to give the best possible display and resolution. SMART also allows you serve content that is specific to devices.
For example, let's say that you have ad content on your website. You could run separate ads targeting Android users and Blackberry users. As far as demographics, being able to target a market based on the mobile device or phone they use opens up a whole new dynamic to marketing. Even something as simple as surveys take on a whole new paradigm, (including audio and video).
I have been testing SMART Mobile Design on a very special project called Music Sense. Visit http://music.echoingwalls.com on your computer, then visit it on any other web-enabled device. You will see varying displays, greetings, text and more. It is dynamic content that includes audio.
There is no new domain name needed, the detection is nearly instant, and the content is served just as fast as if the software wasn't running.
