How You Can Triple Your List Building Automatically With One Easily Overlooked Strategy
Today I have a very quick tip for you. It's a simple, and easily overlooked strategy that tripled my subscriber opt-ins and exploded my list building rate.
I'm a person that gets a lot of one-times sales. The software business can be like that. Someone buys an app from you and you never hear from them again. I wanted to find a way to introduce my buyers to the other side of my business where there are services, and be able to keep them updated as to changes and other updates.
Implementing a list building strategy was the sure solution, however I had a problem getting people to opt-in, especially when they purchased online, until I tried this strategy, and my opt-ins literally exploded.
Place all of your online products and services behind an autoresponder, that way when anyone purchases a product or requests information, you capture theirs.
In the store or in person, always ask for their name and email address, and let them know you're going to follow up with them via email. Send them a personal email thanking them for their inquiry or purchase and ask them to opt-in...
Don't just put a link to your autoresponder. Most people won't click on a link on their own, so always ask them in your follow up, and make it part of the conversation.
For example, for purchases of software I say,
"Hey [their name],
This is Dexter. I wanted to take a moment and personally thank you for your purchase today. If you have any questions, comments or concerned, please let me know and I'll be glad to help.
Also, so that you know what's going on with me and my company, including updates that affect your product, please opt in and confirm your email address to our mailing list. We hate spam as much as you do and your information will always remain private. Just click on this link.
[link goes here]
Thanks again!
[signature]"
It's a very simple email and you capture more opt-ins and build trust with your customers, which makes repeat business much easier. I also do a personal follow up for online customers, but since they are already on my mailing list, it's a personal follow inquiring if they are happy, if they have any comments or questions, and personally assure them that if they do, all they have to do is reply to the email.
Reinforcing that you care about your customers is very, very important, and in return you get loyalty.
