Amanda Knox Case Overturned By Italian Appeal
This is a case I've been watching. For those that may not remember, back in 2009, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering of Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old British student who shared an apartment with Amanda in Perugia.
The case was going well until a cour-ordered DNA review discredited some very important genetic evidence. Amanda Knox was convicted to 26 years, and Raffaele Sollecito to 25. Both had been in prison since Nov. 6, 2007, four days after Kercher's body had been found at the apartment.
On Monday, an Italian appeals court overturned Amanda Knox's conviction in the sexual assault and murder. This morning Amanda Knox is a free woman and is on her way home.
