Strongest East Coast Earthquake Since World War II
Yesterday's earthquake was a first-time experience for me. I've never experienced one before so I got up to look. I checked out the window and didn't see heavy machinery, sink hole opening up, or anything, (I've seen and heard both of those a plenty).
Then the "holy smokes... it's an earthquake!" moment hit me. It was strangely unnerving and exciting at the same time. Unnerving in that "ok... the earth is moving," and exciting, "cool! the earth is moving!" Nothing to do but stand in the doorway and wait for it to pass.
I turned on my television and every station was giving reports about who felt it. The largest I heard was a 5.2 in Virgina but I didn't realize how many people were affected. Turns out that this earthquake was the largest sing World War II, and it affected 10's of millions of people from Georgia to Canada. That's one big tectonic shift!
From what I read, they even evacuated the White House.
